Istanbul Airport

Had a frustrating but interesting adventure in the Istanbul Airport. Since have a 6 hour layover going into a lounge is almost required. Wifi, hot showers, food etc. Anyway both Hannah and I only brought US dollars, as instructed. The problem was that the lounge only took credit or debit. Neither of us had the funds in our account. Therefore we needed to transfer funds from our savings. Problem was that the atm only allowed withdraws and the free wifi required a phone. After two hours of walking around and trying to solve this (which led meeting a very interesting Eastern European rug designer) we finally got Lara to pay for us with her card in exchange for our American cash. Finally I can relax, eat, and shower.
The moral of the story is keep some money on a visa card when traveling.
good times....
